Do You Like a Challenge

Here is my answer to those who think I'm all wet. I want to dare you to do what you think you can't do. I want to challenge you all to lay your hands on sick people and command healing to their body's. To take the Name of Jesus as your weapon against the illnesses and diseases and works of the devil. To allow the anointing of the Holy Spirit to flow through you into these body's to affect a cure and a healing and a deliverance to those who come to you. If you need to, find another believer to be with you for support. "If two of you agree, it will be done for you". Try this and see what the Lord will do. If you have a church, do it in the services. "Pray one for another so that you may be healed."

If your conscience won't allow you to because your faith is not really active, then to you I have and alternative that will allow you to do this. Mary told the servants; "whatever he (Jesus) says, do it. To Peter, Jesus said launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch". So here we see that obedience to the word pleases God. It doesn't have to make sense. In all these the glory of the Lord was revealed, and God will alway honor anyone who will obey Him. The word of Jesus as the authority to do this; "In my name they will lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover". You have no reason to disobey, so obey and do this, as Jesus said to. So then there is no reason why you can't do this, all you can lose is your pride. But I know that if you will expand you faith for healing, God will show himself strong.

Finally, if you leave comments they are appreciated; if you will do this and then leave comments, we will have testimonies of the goodness of the Lord. And much more interesting discussions. You see I know a secret; when-ever anyone asks in the name of Jesus for healing, the Anointing of the Holy Spirit is released to bring glory to God through the Son, every time!

In Matthew, God is talking to his apostles. He says, "Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received, freely give." Matthew 10:8.

Have you risen the dead? Are you sinning because you have not? You are not doing what God asks of you. You have to understand the difference between the apostles and us, his disciples. God gave special gifts to his apostles, which He did not give to everyone else. He chose these 12 to do miracles in His name to help spread the Word.

Anonymous,
The verse is to "those that believe", not the apostles. Mark 16:15.
So you would rather agrue about what can't be know, than do what is clearly stated. This is what lawyers do.
Just do it. Take the Challenge, then we'll have something to talk about.

Bryan, I cannot tell you how many times anointed, godly friends, pastors, etc have laid hands on my husband for healing. (he has degenerative disk disease, and he lives in continuous pain)

God's answer, at least for now, is no. And, as I think I've told you before, my husband says that basically, he's been "healed of the need to be healed." If God chooses - and the key words here are 'God chooses' - to heal him, then he'll take it. But that He doesn't heal him does not change the goodness or greatness of God. HIS WAYS ARE RIGHT.

Now, you're going to say this thing about 'not having enough faith.' And I asked you several times on my blog to please explain to us what "enough" faith actually is. And is that 'enough' faith on the part of the pray-er or the one afflicted? And how does one go about mustering up 'enough' faith?

See the problem for the faith movement folks is that they cannot explain it. Nowhere in Scripture does it say that people are not healed due to not having 'enough' faith or due to their sin or anything else. Do you think the accounts of healings in the Bible were were stories of THE ONLY SICK PEOPLE of the time?

As He passed by, He saw a man blind from birth. And His disciples asked Him, "Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he would be born blind?" Jesus answered, "It was neither that this man sinned, nor his parents; but it was so that the works of God might be displayed in him. John 9:1-2

See that last part? The works of God are displayed in those who are afflicted. God's strength is made known thru weakness.

What happens with people in your church who aren't healed? Or do you have a church where all people are 100%? We knew a faithful man of God who had cystic fibrosis. He went to be with the Lord when he was 47, at that time the oldest living person with CF. He couldn't preach in the AG churches because he wasn't 'healed.' This man understood more than anyone the grace of God, he lived each and every day.

You reduce God to simply a 'santa claus' existing to do our bidding. You discount His ultimate sovereignty over His creation.

Why do you put such an emphasis on this, anyway. Afflicted people cannot glorigy God or something? They cannot have a walk with Him?

This is false teaching, plain and simple. It causes spiritually immature people to gravitate toward false hope.

God promises that He will never leave nor forsake us. His grace is sufficient. In this life there will be trial and tribulations. These work in our lives to sanctify us, transform us in to the image of Christ. With His grace, we persevere toward the goal, we run the race with endurance. And on and on the Scripture goes about this.

I'm sorry but this gets me pretty riled up.

Just so you know, Mark 16, verses 9-20 were not added to the Bible until around 1611.

Gayla,
God's answer to healing is never no! It's always yes!
I've already answered every other question. And you've already discounted my answers, so I won't bother to answer again.
So you simply want to believe you are right in all things. Okay, it's your life, but God has a better plan than man.
I wrote this challenge to get the power of God active in your lives, in the work of the Lord. That is why this emphasis on healing. If the power of God starts moving in your life, then you'll gain understanding and experience.
Not to start greater discussions, there is a place for action as well.
Your riled up, I think God is sad that his people won't listen. The love of God knows no bounds, he would that all his people were healthy, and prosperous; but you won't hear that.

Bryan, I've never claimed to "be right in all things." I KNOW I'm not right in a whole lot of things.

I'm really not so concerned with being right as I am being righteous. Like, with the help of the Holy Spirit, living a transparent, humble life before God.

I did say God's ways were right. And that's true.

You have NOT given explanation for some of the things I've asked. You haven't said anything about the people who ARE sick. Why isn't every single Believer healed then, if as you say, God's answer to healing is always yes, never no. ???

I'm not so sure that it's wise to be so presumptuous to say what God will or won't *always* do.

Hi Gayla,
Jesus said you shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free. Jesus ministry was the Father working through him. He shows us the heart of God. God doesn't change, what he does for one He will do for anyone. Also a man said to Jesus; Lord if you are willing you can make me whole. Jesus said I am willing. This shows that God is willing. For those in the body who are sick it's because they don't know the truth. They may have heard it, or have a intellictual understanding , but Jesus can't lie, when you know (in your heart) the truth it will set you free.
Your saying I'm speaking presumptuos shows that you don't know this to be the truth. In that case how could you believe it? Not that you can't, but at this time you don't. It still remains a question to be studied. Good, we should all study to see clearly the will of God in all things.
Be Blessed,
Bryan

"For those in the body who are sick it's because they don't know the truth."

What about those who are born blind? Do you consider this a sickness? God made the blind see again. Do these people not know the truth because they are blind? What about children? The ones born with fatal diseases. Aren't we to be pure and innocent as children? Why are these children destined to a short life? Is it because they don't know God?

Blogger pete porter said...

Anonymous,
I see you would rather challenge this than do it. Okay. As for the sickness in the world; it's the result of sin that has corrupted this earth. Not necessarily any one persons' sin. Jesus also healed these. The criteria was to come to him in faith believing that he was able and willing to do this for them. The same today.

10:23 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

So, again, what about the children who can't come to him in faith? The ones who are not old enough to reason? Are you saying they will die without a chance to live a normal life because of others' sins? Yes, I am challenging this. I want you to give a reason why these children are born sick. I want you to put yourself in the shoes of a parent of one of these children. Do you not think these parents fervently pray non-stop that their children be healed? Do you not think they have tried everything for their child? Have you had a doctor tell you that your child will die before the age of 2, 3, or 4?

Another thing, what percentage of the population dies of old age? Everyone dies. Some die from accidents. Some die from diseases. Some die of old age. Are these the rare few who inherit the kingdom of heaven? Does God want us all to live to a certain age? What is that age? Most people believe Jesus died in his thirties. Is that the age?

"it's the result of sin that has corrupted this earth."

Yes, the earth is corrupt, but being sick is not corrupt. Where do you get this idea? I'll make it easy. Give me just one scripture from the Bible that states that the sick will not get to heaven. If being sick does not keep you from getting into heaven, then it is not corrupt. It is not a sin. It is not a spiritually evil thing. It is life. It happens. When I get the flu, its not because I have been living a bad life. Its because of a virus.

You've asked a lot of questions that I have not commented on, you do not know my opinion because I haven't given it. So why challenge me? I said those in the body of Christ who are sick have not received the truth of healing. I'm not a judge of the world. You have placed your words and accused me of saying them. I have only said what I've said.

hi, interesting discussion! blessings to all who are here. i am a friend of gayla, and decided to pop in and just read.

i do have a question, if you don't mind. please hear my heart on this as it is a discussion i have been having recently myself with God.

i'm an ordained pastor and a psychotherapist, but am having some trouble with what i would call the extreme side of this discussion.

i want to ask a question from a completely personal point of view:

i was healed of multiple sclerosis in 1998. praise God! was it my faith, or the faith of the individual who was praying for me, or those who were present at the retreat? don't know.

since then, i've had several illnesses including major surgery. each time we prayed as a family and a church.

we know the truth. i am in deliverance ministry and see people healed and set free consistently through the power of Jesus' Precious, Mighty Name.

but how do you explain subsequent illnesses?

really, i'm not a troll, i am truly interested in your take on this.

again, every blessing to all who read!!!

Carolyn,
Welcome to this discussion, and to a friend of Gayla's. I'm glad you asked this question.

From a bible stand-point there are two anointings. One in us, and the anointing that comes upon us. Jesus was the word made flesh (the first anointing) as he said; my words are spirit and they are life, and was anointed for works of sevice (the second anointing) the Spirit desended upon him as a dove.

So with us. We are the body (flesh) of Jesus and are born again by the word, so that we are also as Jesus. The word in the flesh (the first anointing). Then there are gifts of anointing for works of service, gifts of healings, prophesy, and so forth.

Indivually in our own life we develope strenght in the spirit by study, meditation, and prayer and obedience, walking out the truths of the word. If we find an area where we are weak, we go to the scripture that speaks to that area. And focus on those until they become strong in our heart, and our faith is established.

In the church or fellowship setting God himself releases his presence with power upon his vessel for the work of the hour, to show that it's the truth of God. This is corporate, so the body will be built up, and is in addition to the churchs members.

So God in his grace shows up to help us by these mantles of power upon his ministers. As it's written; "and the power of the Lord was present to heal".

My advise to you. You are mature in the Lord so I'll tell you plainly. 1st, Build up your spirit with the scriptures on healing. 2nd, when ever you are attacked, resist it actively, take the name of Jesus and command it to go, don't waiver, don't quit, and don't give up. It has to obey you. You have been given the authority in the name of Jesus. "speak to this mountain, be removed and cast into the sea,...it will obey you." Once you have exercised your authority over sickness, you'll find they don't show up much anymore, they don't like getting beat!!

Be Blessed,
Bryan

Bryan, thank you for such a well thought out message.

but ... what if one does all those things? remember, this is my ministry and i am actively involved in it day to day.

i do not discredit what you are saying, but wonder if in polarizing your views, you have missed out on the balance in this doctrine??

since when does healing or any miracle of God's love become work of the flesh?

i do want to add a disclaimer, i am not passionately against or for any concept here, but am interested in hearing your take on this ... my attitude is indeed unity and love. i pray that i came across that way.

blessings dear brother in the Lord! looking forward to your answer.

sorry, i thought i had included this. i wish we could edit these posts! *lol*

i have found in discussions with others that pride is a huge stumbling block - especially in this area.

i have not problem humbling myself and admitting where i may be lax in my own walk with the Lord.

there are many other issues surrounding my recent illnesses, but what i will say is that they followed an intense time of 'soaking', fasting, and waiting on the Lord as well as extensive Bible study. thus, that is the reason for my question.

again, every blessing.

Carolyn,
I tried to answer earlier, but blogger was down for awhile. I've visited your site. And see you already have your answer to the questions of healing. The fact vs. the truth. In the scripture; "they will lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover." It's the, they shall recover, that was missing. The timing is the Lords'. It's ours to know that he is at work to bring a complete healing.

"since when does healing or any other miracle of God's love become work of the flesh". This is good. God gave man dominion over the earth, to Adam. Speaking of the coming messiah, "but a body thou hast prepared for me". To have authority in the earth, you have to be born of flesh. Enter Jesus. After Jesus it says that God wrought special miracles by the hand of Paul. Also the passing of Peter's shadow. And in other places by the hands of the believers. God uses his body of Christ to continue his work. This is the way he has chosen. As we are instructed to yield our members unto God for works of righteousness.

I see that your time in study and prayer has tuned your ears to hear what the Lord is saying, that's great. I love your site, hope to have futher discussion with you.

Be Blessed,
Bryan

Bryan, i love your response. truly the work of Holy Spirit through us and in God's timing. all by His power and will in according with the Scriptures.

that kind of faith talk i can wrap my heart around, but i think i already came to that conclusion in my blog.

that, my friend, satisfies my Spirit and brings us to a place of balance (at least in my opinion).

i'm so glad that we can discuss this and see where we agree more than where we disagree.

Thank you for your kind words about my blog. i just love my Lord Jesus with all my heart, everything that i am and i long to hear His precious, sweet Voice above anything else.

love to talk with you again, brother. every blessing.

Well you've had a lot of ppl comment. I just want to add a a different perspective. I lost my hearing at age six. Early on my family took me to churches for laying of the hands. While I did not regain my hearing, I did receive something more valuable. God has stayed close to me and I became born again years later.
